DescriptionThe Clarkdale Fire District is a new district committed to providing the highest level of professional emergency services in our growing community. Although we are new as a district (established November 30, 2006), we have a rich history of fire service dating back to 1914. Clarkdale is located at the geographic center of Arizona, 100 miles north of Phoenix and 20 miles south of Sedona on the banks of the Verde River. If quality of life, mild climate and natural/recreational opportunities are important to you, Clarkdale is a place you should consider.

Necessary Certifications
Arizona State Firefighters 1 & 2 or NFPA 1001 equivalent.
Arizona EMT
Haz-Mat operations
Schooling Prior and Post Hiring
Mandatory 48 hour in-house academy
Basic wildland certificate (Preferred Pre-Hire, Required Post Hire)
National Incident Management System classes IS-100a, IS-200a, IS-700a, IS-800b (Preferred Pre-Hire, Required Post Hire)CREDITS 5\% points will be added for persons with “Honorable Discharge” after six months or more of active duty provided they earn a passing score without preference. A copy of the DD-214 must be provided with the application for review and acceptance.
10\% points will be added for any veteran who has a service connected disability or according to the definitions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, is considered to be disabled. This preference shall also be given to the spouse or surviving spouse of the following: A veteran who dies of a service-connected disability, a member of the armed forces who is listed with the secretary of defense as missing in action, or a person who has a total permanent disability resulting from a service-connected disability or who died while such disability was in existence.

Applications must be fully completed include resume, copies of certificates (or other proof) and a 39-month driving record and be received by the closing date/time. Incomplete applications, and applications submitted electronically, will not be considered.
Applicants must be able to meet District physical standards, meet insurability requirements and live within the Verde Valley or Sedona area including Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, Lake Montezuma, Rimrock and Oak Creek Canyon.
